Copper Rock Research, Inc. was founded during a transformative moment.
While on a family vacation, Marlisa Anderson — a senior statistician with decades of experience in biotechnology — made the decision to launch her own consulting firm. Inspired by her daughter’s catch of a copper rockfish, they created a gyotaku (traditional Japanese fish print) that became the company’s logo and namesake.
Since 2006, we’ve partnered with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies worldwide, specializing in oncology and other therapeutic areas, to provide accurate, reliable, and timely statistical support.

Marlisa Anderson brings over 28 years of hands-on experience in biostatistics and clinical research. She is highly skilled in designing and analyzing Phase 1 through Phase 3 clinical trials and has a strong track record of collaborating closely with small to mid-sized biotech companies, especially in oncology.
Her expertise spans the entire lifecycle of clinical studies — from protocol development to regulatory submissions — ensuring that every trial is designed efficiently, analyzed rigorously, and communicated clearly.
